An agency-owned group is created empty — your pilgrims join it from the Wasl app using its 6-character code.
Enter the 6-character code of a group your pilgrims already created in the app to bring it under your agency.
Group pilgrims into squads (e.g. "Bus A", "Women's group"). Drift alerts are then measured within each squad — so a squad that legitimately spreads out from the others won't raise false alarms.

Mark where this group sleeps. Inside the radius nobody is ever flagged as drifted (hotel rooms and floors spread people out — especially at night), and the portal reports who's 🏨 at hotel.
How drift is detected, how long the squad leader gets before your team is alerted, and how you're reached. The Guide explains the full ladder.
Every 2 minutes we sweep each of your groups. We take everyone's live location (fresh within the last 5 minutes), find each squad's main body — the largest cluster of members within 300 m of each other — and measure who is further than 600 m from it. Someone only counts as drifted after 4 minutes of sustained separation, so a single GPS blip never raises an alarm. Squads are measured independently: Bus A can be at the Haram while Bus B is at the hotel, and nobody is flagged.
🏨 The hotel is a safe harbor. Set each group's hotel (the 🏨 button on the group card — pick it on the map). Inside its radius nobody is ever flagged as drifted: rooms and floors legitimately spread people out, especially overnight. Instead the portal counts them in the At hotel tile, on each group's header, and with a 🏨 tag on their row.
| No squad leader set | Straight to you — the card says why. Set leaders in ⛺ Squads. |
| The leader is the one drifting | Straight to you. |
| Leader unreachable (no app / no email) | Straight to you, marked “leader unreachable”. |
| Drifted, then went offline | The scariest case. The episode is kept alive and flagged 📵 priority — it never silently disappears. |
| SOS button pressed | Always immediate: banner, sound, notification. |
| Inside the group's 🏨 hotel radius | Never flagged — counted as "at hotel" instead. SOS still always works there. |
• Groups (or squads) need 3+ members sharing location to define a
“main body” — below that we can't measure drift and we don't guess.
• Freshness depends on each pilgrim's phone: battery saver and airplane mode
pause sharing (that's what Stale / Offline mean).
• Leader pings are rate-limited to one per pilgrim per 30 minutes, so a
flapping GPS can't spam your leaders into ignoring alerts.
• Portal — alert bar, incident cards, map: always on while open.
• Desktop notifications — turn 🔔 Control room ON; alerts pop even in
another tab.
• Background browser push — with Control room ON, escalations reach
staff even with the portal closed.
• Email — every staff account is emailed when a drift escalates.
All of it is configurable in ⚙️ Alerts & drift.
